scanner issues.

So I made this deviant art account and then i realized that all of my photos/art [mainly just photos] were already packed away for me to take with me to college. So I decided to wait till I got there.
Well so now I'm here and this afternoon i decided I would scan the pictures and put them up.
Well i scanned a black and white picture.
And it turned out this awful yellow color, so i had to convert it to black and white.

So i guess what I am asking is, what can I do to make the scan come out better?
Will I have to photoshop every picture?
This is something i would not enjoy doing.

i'm coming home next weekend, then i can take pictures of everything and post it. or just show it to you i guess but then i would have to carry my big ridiculous portfolio around...
